2010 Saleen Mustang S281 is powered by a 4.6 liter V8 with Saleen Series VI.5 twin-screw supercharger and dual-stage intercooler. It chucks out 485 hp and 460 lb.-ft. of torque. This power is delivered to the rear wheels through a a short-throw, five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential with 3.73:1 final drive ratio.

As for chassis tuning, Saleen has provided this car with a racing grade suspension. It includes specially tuned, single-rate front and rear springs;
nitrogen-pressurized front struts and rear shocks with a wide range of damping adjustments; and a specially tuned front sway bar with performance pivot bushings.

The S281 is also fitted with 20-inch, 7-spoke alloy wheels with Pirelli P-Zero Rosso high-performance tires.

For the interior Saleen offers leather sport seats with Ultra-Suede inserts, highlighted by chevron-like Ultra-Suede red tabs in the seatback bolsters,and unique treatments of the gauges, steering wheel, center console and shifter. When it went on sale in 2002, the S7 was the only street-legal car in the U.S. with more than 500 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque. The media and S7 owners have raved about the car since it first smoked the rear tires in anger. And it has been recognized by numerous automotive magazines as the fastest production car in the world. But during the past three years the automobile marketplace has witnessed an explosion of performance with models from manufacturers including Ferrari, Lamborghini, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche and Chevrolet touting power numbers above the once magic 500 level.
Designed by Saleen engineers, the S7's engine and drivetrain incorporate the latest in modern racing technology. The new all-aluminum V8 engine casting was engineered and tooled by Saleen to displace seven liters. Redline is 6500 rpm. Space age materials and engineering are used throughout, including stainless steel valves, titanium retainers, beryllium exhaust valve seats, an aluminum throttle body, Saleen designed aluminum CNC-machined cylinder heads and stainless steel exhaust system. An exclusive Saleen-designed Front Engine Accessory Drive (FEAD) system results in an extremely compact engine, allowing for better packaging and overall weight distribution. Unlicensed 16-Year-Old Jumps Pool and Lands into Home with his Father's Saleen Mustang

It's the same old story, just different names, places and cars. A 16-year-old teen without a driver's license from Placentia, California decided to take his dad's Saleen Mustang for a very quick spin around the block. And when we're talking quick we mean it, as according to Placentia police Sgt. Ken Alexander, the teen was going around 85mph or 137km/h before he lost control (duh...) of the Saleen Mustang crashing into a brick wall, jumping over a pool (!!!) and ending up into the family room of a neighboring house.

Unfortunately the teen learned a very harsh lesson from the crash as he suffered multiple injuries, including a broken leg, ankle and back. Luckily, even though the family was inside the home at the time of the incident, no one was injured.

SMS Dodge Challenger 570 and 570X Pricing Released

Steve Saleen and his newly found tuning company SMS has released pricing for their newest projects based on the Dodge Challenger. The SMS Challenger 570 and 570X which are based on the new Challenger R/T , are targeted to start at $60,000 to $70,000 respectively. Both versions sport a supercharged version of the 5.7L Hemi, with power ratings from 500 to over 700HP for the 570 and 570X respectively. Other improvements include the addition of a bodykit, larger alloy wheels, updated drivetrain, suspension and brake components as well as a sportier interior. -Continued

Saleen Racecraft Introduces Sub-$20k Ford Focus Coupe-based RC2

In an attempt to draw the attention of the budget-minded tuning fans, Saleen’s Saleen’s value-performance Racecraft division presented a souped up version of the Ford Focus Coupe that will be available during the first quarter of 2009 with a base price under $20,000. Dubbed the RC2, Saleen Racecraft’s proposal features a bodykit with a new front fascia and mesh grille, side skirts, a boot lid spoiler, a rear skirt and 18-inc alloy wheels wrapped in Bridgestone performance tires. Performance upgrades will include an estimated 15 HP bump over the base 2.0-liter engine’s output of 143 HP. A sport suspension and a more powerful braking system will also be included in the package. -Continued
