Report: Zagato Rumored to Build Alfa Romeo TZ4 Stradale Based on Dodge Viper V10

Written By nyit on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 | 2:24 PM

A little less than a year ago, famed Italian coachbuilder Zagato celebrated Alfa Romeo’s centenary with the reveal of the TZ3 Corsa at the Villa D'Este Concours. Based on the hardware of the Alfa Romeo 8c Competizione, the TZ3 Corsa paid homage to its TZ predecessors. It was built as a one-off for a wealthy German collector named Martin Kapp.

In December of the same year, Zagato sent out a holiday card featuring the older TZ1 and TZ2 alongside the latest TZ3 and one more unnamed fourth model wrapped in a bow, hinting at a new TZ4. Fast forward to today, and German car magazine Autobild is reporting that the Italian coachbuilder is indeed planning a fourth TZ model, which could carry the TZ4 Stradale nameplate.

This year's edition of the Geneva Motor Show is buzzing with concept models of all sorts of sizes and shapes. The one you see pictured above is based on the popular Fiat 500 mini and is the result of the collaboration between the Fiat Group Automobiles' Centro Stile and the Zagato design house.

Showcased at the Fiat stand, the "500 Coupé Zagato" is said to have been inspired by the namesake predecessor built in the 1950 by the famous Italian bodyworker on the chassis of the original 500.

From the window line and below, the 500 concept is identical to the standard three-door hatchback model. However, the concept gets a completely new top with a sloping coupe-like roof featuring Zagato's trademark double-bubble design.

Other features include the burnished chrome exterior elements, 17-inch chrome shadow alloy wheelss with a brand new double spoked shape and synthetic inserts wrapped in 205/40 R17 tires and 4 perforated brake discs.

The concept is 3,550 mm long, 1,630 mm wide and 1,490 mm high, with a 2,300 mm wheelbase. Inside, Fiat says the 500 Coupe gets a 2+2 seating layout and a bespoke interior with sporty "diamond" seats trimmed in black and yellow two-tone leathers and other unique features.

Power for the 500 Coupé Zagato is provided by Fiat's turbocharged two-cylinder gasoline unit with 105 HP at 5,500 rpm and 155 Nm (114 lb-ft) of peak torque at 2,500 rpm, which promises reduced fuel consumption and CO2 emissions of just 95 g/km.

Iso Rivolta Marella Design Study Based on Corvette ZR-1

Written By nyit on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 | 9:35 AM

A Russian student from the Moscow State University of Industrial and Applied Arts has revived the famous Italian brand Iso Rivolta through a conceptual design study that was created as part of a "school" project in collaboration with Italy's Zagato design house. Fedor Stetskevich's proposal is called the Iso Rivolta Marella and it is based on the underpinnings of the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 - you know, the one that's powered by a supercharged V8 engine cranking out 640 ponnies.

All that in theory of course as the Iso Rivlota Marella exists only on paper and as a scaled down model. Overall we'd say that, while there are certainly attractive elements to the design, we reckon that Stetskevich's study needs more work to look the part.

Via: Cardesign - Kudos to Grigory for the tip!
